Do you cook on induction? Then you probably know that not every pan works on an induction cooktop. Stainless steel pans naturally have magnetic properties and work without issues, but with pans and pots that have an aluminum body, it's a different story. Aluminum is lightweight, strong, and an excellent heat conductor, but it is not naturally magnetic. That’s why aluminum pans always require an additional base layer to be compatible with induction.

Why Choose Aluminum Pans?

Our BergHOFF pans with an aluminum body are made from recycled aluminum, a sustainable choice that ensures fast and even heat distribution. Aluminum heats up faster than stainless steel and is lighter, making cooking easier. Another benefit is that aluminum pans always have a non-stick coating, ideal for low-fat cooking and easy cleaning. At BergHOFF, we use the PFAS-free CeraGreen ceramic non-stick coating, a healthy and safe alternative to traditional non-stick coatings.

The Difference in Induction Bases: What to Look For?

Not all aluminum pans have the same base. There are three different types of induction bases:

Full Disk Base – The best choice for those who cook frequently and value quality. The full induction base ensures maximum heat distribution and efficient energy use. Ideal for intensive use.

Dot Base – A more budget-friendly option where the pan only makes contact with the induction plate at specific points. Less efficient, but still functional.

Waterdrop Base – Similar to the dot base but with a slightly different structure. Also less efficient than a full disk.

 

 

The Best Choice for Induction? Go for Full Disk!

If you cook frequently and want to get the best performance from your induction cooktop, choose a pan with a full disk base. This ensures even heat distribution and optimal performance. Pans with a dot base or waterdrop base work but conduct heat less effectively and may be less efficient.
