  • 1 egg
  • 4 cherry tomatoes
  • 1 large slice of bread
  • A bit of butter (for the pan)
  • Optional: a few flat-leaf parsley leaves (for finishing)

Icon Preparation

  • Preparation:
    Cut the cherry tomatoes in half. Separate the egg: separate the egg white from the yolk and keep both apart.

  • Making the flower in the pan:
    Put a pan on medium heat and melt a little butter in it.
    Place the halved cherry tomatoes cut side down in a closed circle in the pan — this will be the "flower."

  • Add yolk and egg white:
    Carefully place the yolk in the center of the circle of cherry tomatoes.
    Pour the egg white around so it "glues" the cherry tomatoes together and forms one nice whole.

  • Cooking:
    Let the whole cook gently until the egg white is completely set, the yolk shines nicely, and the cherry tomatoes start to color slightly. (Prefer a soft yolk? Keep it a bit shorter; for hard-cooked, cook a little longer.)

  • Lightly toast the large slice of bread if desired. Place it on a plate and put the "flower" on top. Finish with some flat-leaf parsley leaves for an extra fresh touch.
